The Project: Rebuilding for a Better Tomorrow
This ambitious adaptive reuse project will turn a once-neglected hotel into a beacon of hope. With 112 rooms being converted into single-occupancy residences and 12 parking stalls and driveways repurposed, this site will soon provide stability and support to those needing it most. By offering a safe, stable living environment, we are directly contributing to improving the quality of life for some of our community’s most vulnerable members.
The Work: Precision Demolition and Expert Craftsmanship
At Fast Forward Concrete Cutting, we pride ourselves on the precision and efficiency we bring to every job, and this project is no exception. Our selective demolition scope has been critical to clearing the way for the new vision of this space. This has involved removing millwork, flooring, plumbing fixtures, doors, and windows to create a clean slate for future renovations. We’ve demolished interior partitions and partial walls to open up space and make room for new layouts while also preparing the site for new installations and renovations. Every step of the way, we’ve ensured that the building will soon become a functional and welcoming home for its future residents.
A March to Completion: Extra Work to Ensure Success
March proved to be a month of significant progress and extra work, as our team went above and beyond to keep the project on track. In addition to removing toilets and drywall to create clearer, more usable spaces, we conducted exploratory work on the 3rd floor, identifying and addressing any issues in preparation for the next phase of construction. The demolition of outdated and unsafe drywall and hard lid ceilings was another critical task, as was the extensive work on the 1st floor to accommodate new plumbing installations. Furthermore, we took on cleaning the exterior parking lots on both the north and south sides, ensuring they were prepared for future use.
Our commitment to the project went beyond the basic scope. We infilled the existing pool and compacted it according to the specifications required by Alpha Construction and the City of Baldwin Park. We also sawcut asphalt for new electric conduits and water lines for landscaping to ensure the building’s utilities would be ready for the new tenants. Additional trenching for new water lines through B/R Asphalt helped push the project forward. These added responsibilities required our talented team’s expertise, including our flat saw operator, foreman, apprentices, and laborers. We brought equipment such as bobcats to efficiently handle the tough exterior demo and site prep tasks.
